Summer Sports Education Camp
Our flagship annual program brings together youth who are blind and visually impaired for an unforgettable week of sports, leadership, and community building.
Camp Overview
The MOBALE Summer Sports Education Camp is a multi-day residential program and will be held June 28-July 2, 2026. The camp provides an intensive, supportive environment where youth with visual impairments can:
- Try new sports in a safe, encouraging environment
- Develop athletic skills with professional coaching
- Build confidence and independence
- Form lasting friendships with peers
- Learn from visually impaired role models and mentors
- Participate in leadership development activities
- Have fun and create memories that last a lifetime
2025 Camp Highlights
The 2025 Summer Sports Education Camp took place June 18-21, 2025, and featured:
- 8 Athletes from Maine and New Hampshire
- 10+ Sports Activities including soccer, kickball, swimming, track & field, yoga, wrestling, archery, disc golf, functional fitness, and goalball
- 4 Volunteer Counselors: Adria, Sheila, Jordan, and Cheryl
- 3 Visually Impaired Counselors: Izzy, Kyle, and Derek
- 2 Junior Counselors: Gavin and Tyler
- Guest Speaker: Lindsay Ball, 2014 Paralympic ski racer and college professor

Goalball
Paralympic team sport emphasizing teamwork, spatial awareness, and quick reflexes
Wrestling
Build strength, technique, and confidence through adaptive wrestling
Swimming
Pool activities and swim instruction in an accessible environment
Track & Field
Running, throwing, and field events adapted for visually impaired athletes
Disc Golf
Outdoor recreation combining skill development with nature exploration
Archery
Develop focus and precision with specialized equipment and guidance
Soccer & Kickball
Team sports fostering cooperation and cardiovascular fitness
Yoga
Mindfulness, flexibility, and body awareness practices
Functional Fitness
Strength and conditioning for overall health and athletic performance
Leadership Development
Beyond sports, MOBALE emphasizes leadership and personal growth. Our leadership programming includes:
- Goal-setting and personal development workshops

Volunteer Opportunities
The success of MOBALE's programs depends on dedicated volunteers. We welcome:

- Support Staff: Assist with logistics, meals, and camp operations
