Dates: Sunday June 28 – Thursday July 2, 2026
Location: University of New Hampshire, Durham, N.H. campus (12 miles from Kittery, Maine) — overnight lodging in safe & secure dormitories with adult supervision
Who can participate: Boys & Girls aged 10–18 (through Senior in high school) who are blind or visually impaired from Maine & other New England states
Cost per athlete: $100 — includes housing, athletic facilities, meals & camp T-shirt. NOTE: Sponsorships are available for athletes from Maine and former MOBALE athletes from other states who may need financial assistance. Email mobalesports@gmail.com

MOBALE will take a major role in developing and directing the camp using the familiar vigorous, instructional, and FUN model of the Sports Education Camp (SEC) that we have presented for the past 10 years in Waterville, Maine.

University of New Hampshire graduate students from the Master’s Program of Kinesiology and Adapted Physical Education will join the MOBALE staff as trainers and counselors, offering expertise that will both challenge and support participant athletes.

2025 MOBALE Summer Sports Education Camp - Athletes, counselors, and volunteers

The Maine Organization for Blind Athletic and Leadership Education (MOBALE) is dedicated to promoting sports and leadership opportunities for youth with visual impairments. Through our annual Summer Sports Education Camp and year-round programs, we empower young athletes to develop skills, confidence, and leadership abilities.

Our Sports Programs

Goalball

A Paralympic team sport designed for blind and visually impaired athletes, emphasizing teamwork and spatial awareness.

Wrestling

Build strength, technique, and confidence through adaptive wrestling programs tailored for visually impaired athletes.

Disc Golf

Experience outdoor recreation with adaptive disc golf, combining skill development with nature exploration.

Archery

Develop focus and precision through accessible archery programs with specialized equipment and guidance.

Rock Climbing

Challenge yourself with adaptive rock climbing, building problem-solving skills and physical strength.

Tandem Biking

Experience the freedom of cycling through our tandem biking program with trained sighted partners.
