About Participation

Who is eligible to participate in MOBALE programs?

MOBALE serves youth who are blind and visually impaired primarily from Maine, though we welcome athletes from surrounding states. Age ranges and specific eligibility details vary by program - contact us for more information.

How much does it cost to attend camp?

We strive to keep our programs accessible and offer financial assistance when needed. The 2026 Summer Camp fee is $100/athlete. Contact us at mobalesport@gmail.com to discuss fees and available scholarships.

When is the next Summer Sports Education Camp?

2026 Summer Sports Education Camp (SEC) is June 28 – July 2 at the University of New Hampshire, Durham Campus, just 12 miles from Kittery, Maine. REGISTRATION IS OPEN! Download Camp Information & Registration (PDF)

Can family members attend camp?

Our camp is designed as a residential experience for athletes to build independence and peer connections. Family involvement varies by program - contact us for specific details.

What if my child has never played sports before?

That's perfectly fine! MOBALE welcomes athletes of all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced competitors. Our program focuses on skill development, confidence building, and having fun.

About Volunteering

Do volunteers need experience working with visually impaired individuals?

No previous experience is required! We provide training and support for all volunteers. What matters most is enthusiasm, patience, and a commitment to MOBALE's mission.

What volunteer opportunities are available?

We have various volunteer roles including camp counselors, sports instructors, junior counselors (for returning athletes), and support staff for logistics and operations.
